Kharma Consulting, a local web development and consulting firm was featured last night on the 10:00 pm Channel 4 newscast. It was a very nice piece on how their business is growing, even in this tough economy. Click here for a link to the news story and video. Kharma is the consultant who developed this site and if you want to talk with them about your web needs call Brian or Rick at 371-0012 or just stop by Reno's after work.
Kharma Consulting and thier business growth was also mentioned on KARN News radio this morning at 6:30 am.

The Argenta United Methodist Church met for the first time this past Sunday at The Starving Artist Cafe for somewhat of a trial, and it worked beautifully. Their next worship gathering in Argenta will be on Sunday December 14th at 5:30 pm at Starving Artists. They will have a great time of singing Christmas carols and collecting gifts for a local Angel Tree. Go check them out, I will

The Argenta United Methodist Church (AUMC) has completed thier web site and it is now on line. This is the first new church in Argenta in years and is another sign of Argenta's rebirth. The pastor of AUMC is Will Choate and this church has been active for months in Argenta, serving coffee at the Farmer's Market, prividing a inflatable for the block party and helping out in other ways. Pastor Will and the members I have met and talked with are great and Will is looking for a home in Argenta. I have no doubt AUMC will be a great asset to Argenta. Go check out the web site by clicking here . The AUMC web site has also been added to the permanent web links to the right.

The fee for recycling went up from $2.02 to $2.12 last montn in case you didn't notice it on your electric bill. This was cost of living increase built into the multi-year contract with Waste Management for the recycling program and no approval was needed by the City Council. If you ask me, we got off cheap, since gas prices alone went up far more than 5% cost of living fee built into the contract.

A loyal reader called me over the weekend irate as hell that the American flag at the Argenta Square Apartments was apparently being flown at half mast and upside down. The reader thought someone was trying to make a political statement with an upside down flag, usually meaning distress. This flag has been flying this way for several days on one of the busiest corners downtown with thousands of commuters going by this corner twice a day in rush hour.

This has nothing to do with Argenta, but every once in while I use this site to indulge myself. This is one of my pet peeves. This is one of the signs at the airport warning certain people not to use the escalator. Let's get this right:
- No one carrying luggage
- No one wearing tennis shoes
- No one carrying children
So women in high heels and guys in cowboy boots or leather shoes without luggage are supposed to use the escalator. This is THE airport. Who doesn't have luggage? I guarantee you this was written by a lawyer in an attempt to protect the airport from lawsuits and if the airport truly expected the over 8000 people a day that use the airport, they would have had to build more then one elevator at each escalator location.

I wish I could have titled this post "The Times they are Changing" but it doesn't appear the Times is on the verge of changing anything that will benefit local North Little Rock news coverage. I recieved this e-mail Friday from Dennis Byrd, the publisher of The North Little Rock Times.
Scott,
If this is the right e-mail for you, please give me a call at 370-8300. I've tried calling you at three different numbers with no luck. Thanks
Dennis Byrd
After e-mailing Dennis my phone number, I recieved a curt call from Dennis. Dennis pointed out, I had cut and pasted the Times masthead image from the Times web site on my Friday post critical of the Times and had been using it for a while . Dennis requested I stop using the image from the Times web site and

Work has begun on framing the second townhouse shown on the right in thiis photograph. On the left you can see the concrete pump truck placing the concrete in the foundations for the row houses being built along the alley. It says something in this economy, that work is proceeding and people are buying these homes, because we have something they want. Urban living in a great neighborhood.
